Parochial Church Council

The main function of the Parochial Church Council (known as the PCC), is to co-operate with the incumbent in promoting in the parish the whole mission of the Church: pastoral; evangelistic; social; ecumenical.

The PCC and the Rector decide jointly how the parish money is to be used. Also the PCC considers and discusses matters concerning the Church of England or any other matters of religious or public interest.

Other functions include liaison and co-operation with the Deanery and Diocesan Synods.

There is an Annual General Meeting held in March/April at which members on the electoral roll are invited to vote on the election of officers who are retiring following their 3-year tenure.

(We hope to extend this section shortly to include details and photos of members of the PCC).

The main officers are:
Rector: Rev’d Jim Pye
Churchwardens: Brian Webb (St Martin's); Mike Stiff (St Mary's).
Treasurer: Cynthia Everest
Deanery Synod: Denise Weaver
(Secretary: Bill Osborne)

In addition another 10 - 12 people serve on the PCC.

Various committees exist to aid the promotion and running of our churches as listed below:

Meet two to three weeks before the PCC meetings to agree agenda and is responsible for implementing the resolutions of the PCC. It may need to take executive decisions in an emergency situation.
Rector; Churchwardens; Deputy Churchwardens; Treasurer.

Buildings Committee

Pastoral Committee

This is by no means a full list of activities undertaken by parishioners, and thanks go to all who contribute to the well being of St Mary's and St Martin's.
