COMMUNITY CAR SERVICE
Who may use the service? Anyone, young or old with or without a disability may ask to make certain journeys for which neither a family car nor any form of suitable public transport is available.
Which journeys are eligible? Local journeys which are for: -
 Medical appointments
 Shopping and personal business
Visiting relatives at home or in hospital
To link with public transport services
Who provides the cars? Volunteers provide and drive their own cars on a non-profit making basis and may claim only the running costs.
Who pays? Passengers may contribute if they so wish, otherwise costs are paid from a grant from the Knebworth Family of Churches.
How do I arrange a journey? By contacting the Scheme’s Co-ordinator between 9.00 am and 8.00 pm, Monday to Friday
Can you always help? We will do our best to help out with all reasonable requests, but our ability to do so depends on availability of volunteer drivers and number of requests which we receive. Giving us plenty of notice of your needs helps.
If in doubt give us a ring and ask.
Do you need more volunteer drivers? YES!
We have a pool of drivers, but always need more to share the load and make it easier to meet requests.
Please contact the Co-ordinator to find out what is involved.
