Cardstall
The cardstall consists of two displays at the rear corner of St. Martin’s Church, offering cards for sale.
The table display holds a range of both Christian and ‘blank for your own message’ cards for all seasons and personal greetings. Also available are small scripture cards, bookmarks and, occasionally, small gifts.
An upright display stand also holds a minimal stock of books as the demand for this facility is low and is currently being run down.
A little profit is made on sales which, in the
past, has been used flexibly where needed to help
fund Church books
and replenish
the stall with a regular supply of stock.
In the absence of Sue Howcutt, who administers the card
stall, a simple system of paper communication and
a locked wall
safe
box facilitates
self – service by payment or IOU and also enables orders for book, (please give
details of your name and phone
number).
Book Aid
This charity is also administered by Sue Howcutt
at the cardstall. If you have any unneeded
Christian books and Bibles at home that you
would like to pass on to developing countries,
please put them in the box marked ‘BOOKAID’ situated
behind the upright stand.
Sue will then take these books to the Luton Christian
Bookshop where they, in turn, send over 500 books
per annum overseas on a regular basis.
Quite apart from Bookaid some home and Bible
study groups subscribe regularly to another
Charity that
sends new Bibles all over the world.
